Why does Duke have so few majors?

It seems less than most schools

I think the main reason is because most of their majors are somewhat broad so they can be used in a lot of careers. :)

Hi Lucia,

At Duke you choose a broad major and later have the opportunity to specialize and receive a further concentration in the area you pick. For example I majored in Biology but could pick from a concentration in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Bio.... I ultimately picked a concentration in Pharmacology. It also has fantastic resources in the majors it has so they definitely choose to devote themselves fully to what they are amazong at. Hope that helps

The goal is to pick a general major, and then afterward Duke will help with narrowing that major to help you learn the most.
