Computer Science A level subject requirements

Hey,

I am currently residing in Singapore and am doing my A-levels. I wish to apply to undergraduate computer science course but am not able to locate the subject and grade requirements for my particular course. I am also doubtful whether I should take further math or not. Could someone please help me out on whether further math is required as well as what subjects are required for admission into computer science through A levels.

Hey @IrrationalBattery - is this question specific to applying to computer science at Penn? Or is this about computer science programs in general?

Hi there! Most schools do not require that you apply to a specific major and allow you to major in things you don't have any experience in. That is probably why you haven't been able to find these requirements for several schools. For UPenn, you would apply to the School of Engineering and Applied Science if you want to major in Computer Science. There are no specific course requirements, but it helps if you take the hardest math and science courses available to you, and have some experience in computer science. This is because UPenn has an essay question that asks you about your interest in your intended major/academic interests: https://blog.collegevine.com/how-to-write-the-upenn-supplemental-essays-2020-2021/

Hope this helps, and best of luck!
