About

April Paris-Joseph earned her BA from Middlebury College completing a double major in Political Science and Spanish with a double minor in Latin American Studies and French. She subsequently earned her MA in Latin American Studies from Stanford University. April's pre-mom career included teaching middle and high school Spanish. While raising her family April found herself studying college admissions starting over fifteen years ago when her oldest son was in high school thinking about college. She stayed connected to the process and grew a soft spot for student athletes, as she assisted her own four children through the recruiting process. When it came time to join the paid work force again April found college counseling brought together both her passion for education and love of teenagers.

Over the years, April has helped countless of her children's teammates and friends navigate, recruiting, essay writing, merit and financial aid and other aspects of college admissions. April earn...

My process

First and foremost, I want every parent and student to understand that getting to college is not about pursuing entrance into a specific short list of schools with single digit acceptance rates. Helping a student get to a best fit college is less about the application per se and more about helping the student know themselves. In short, I walk students through a 4 step process starting as early as spring of 8th grade.
1. Building a profile
2. Building the college list
3. Building the application
4. Building a transition plan
The goal is to launch each student as independent and self-aware developing adults to a college that is a good fit academically, social and financial for them and their family. For our student-athletes the recruiting process works along side these steps. During your consultation we will dig deeper into how each step builds on the last and how my unique approach serves students.

Tips for success
1. Prepare for your first session
Plan out the questions and topics you'd like to discuss. If you'd like to work together in the long term, discuss expectations for each other.
