Find colleges that offer large merit scholarships.

For scholarship contests, be prepared to write essays. A lot of students avoid the essay ones because of the no-essay options out there. Of course, everyone enters those. So if you are a good essay writer, write essays! There's a greater possibility you may win something.

Best thing I can say is go out and find scholarships for you! I’m a junior in high school and I have been doing scholarships left and right. I have applied to quite a bit of no essay scholarships but, it’s very important to make sure you do the ones that also require essays. It helps them for one get a good glimpse of you as a person! A lot of them can be based off of personal experience and opinions and it’s a great way for them to see past your academic achievements and see you for you! Be prepared to write and be open with yourself!
