CollegeVine Columbia Supplement Page
Answered

Hey,

As I was scrolling through the "How to Write the Columbia University Essays 2021-2022" page (https://blog.collegevine.com/how-to-write-the-columbia-university-essays-2021-2022/#prompt1) I noticed that the advice for Prompt 1 and the prompt itself don't quite match up.

For example, bullet point #1 of the advice says, "Notice how the prompt uses the word 'active / action' twice?" However, the prompt never mentions those two words. In fact, I believe the advice is referring to last year's differently-worded prompt, which says, "Columbia students take an active role in improving their community" etc. etc.

Is this advice still applicable for the new prompt, seeing as it has been reworded and, if not, will it be updated to reflect the new prompt?

Thanks!

Hi there! Thanks so much for pointing this out. We're in the process of updating all our breakdowns, and this must've slipped through the cracks. We'll have someone adjust the advice for this prompt, and you should see an update in the coming days!
