Advice for a shy person on starting a school club

I'm an 11th grader, and I'm thinking about starting an environmental club. I already have ideas on projects we could do, but the thing holding me back, is I'm nervous about reaching out to the principle, as I'm not not sure what I need to do to start a club. How would you reach out to a principal about this? Do you know what steps I need to take to start forming a club?

Hi! I recommend reaching out to a teacher (or guidance counselor) you feel comfortable asking for help. I think having a supportive teacher that is willing to be a club advisor/sponsor will help in starting the club successfully, and can help you reach out to the principal. I wish you the best of luck! :D

Hello! I am a current senior and I can help! I started an art club at school and these are the steps I took: I found a teacher willing to host the club (after school, on weekends, etc.), I then emailed my principal the ideas I had and had the teacher talk to him about hosting the club. After that, I requested an announcement to be made to declare the start of the club. Once the club begins, I recommend creating a Google Classroom and Remind for the club. I hope this helps!

I would start by simply emailing the principal that you are interested in starting a club, along with your ideas, then ask what you need to do to make that happen. And then they should guide you from there.

Hello Sophia!! If it makes you feel any better, I would totally join your club. It sounds like such a good idea!
