I'm a rising junior interested in studying forensic science. Right now, I'm just looking for advice on how to boost my stats and chances of getting into schools like the FSU PC Crime Scene Investigation program. My current extra-curricular activities so far are: Key Club (1 year), SGA (1 year), NHS (1 year), and FSU Pre-College Program (2 years), I accepted my invitation to NSHSS and joined the local teen court in May 2024 and recently joined a teen outreach committee. Academically I have a 3.85 weighted GPA, I'm ranked 64/335, from 9th grade to 11th grade I took or am currently enrolled in 4 Pre-Acie, 1 Acie, 3 honors, and 2 dual enrollment classes. For sports, I played 2 years of JV Basketball. My 10 grade PSAT score was a 910. Any advice is appreciated.
Congrats on all your accomplishments! As a rising senior, I recommend and SAT/ACT prep courses. Even though many schools are test optional now, I'll never forget what my SAT tutor told my class: "Even if you don't submit your scores, it tells the colleges that you're hiding it because you aren't proud". Your score is already pretty amazing as a PSAT, but some schools with your interest may be looking for a more competitive score. Hope this helps!
These all sound amazing so far! If you want to major (or minor) in forensic science, you should see if your school offers forensic science classes (if you have not already taken them). Taking classes like anatomy, biology and chemistry can help as well. You have a lot of reasons for a college to accept you academically and extra curricular wise, now I would just recommend working on taking classes that will help support your major.
