AP clases

Hi guys.

I want to know if anyone has any type of help, idea, or how I should prepare for my first ACT and SAT exams, and be able to use my time effectively and study and prepare for taking this exam.

Any type of help would help me a lot!

Hello! I don't know when you're planning on taking the SAT or ACT, but start studying as soon as you can! Once you've determined your test date, you'll want to work backwards (8-12 weeks is ideal, but I get that life is crazy!) I recommend studying 3-5 days/week, and using a schedule or planner for specific goals.

Also, check out the free practice tests available on College Board and act.org. These are great to help you understand the structure, timing, and type of questions you'll get. Use quality resources like Khan Academy, ACT academy, and even YouTube.

Once you've done a runthrough or two with the practice tests, look at your weak areas and study those sections first. (And make sure you practice with time limits, so that you have an understanding of what pace to work at).

Everyone tests differently, but I highly recommend you focus on math first (at least for the SAT). Most people tend to remember the same concepts learned in English, as they use it consistently, regardless of what level or class of English they're in. I got a 640 on the math portion of the SAT. Even though I scored in the top bracket for Algebra (and similarly for other portions), I was closer to mid-range for Geometry & Trigonometry, simply because it had been a year since I had taken a geometry or trig class. Make sure you are up-to-date with all divisions of math.

Most importantly, don't overload your brain. Do your best, but don't stress yourself out so much that you struggle to test. You've got this!

Try out the SAT practice exams on bluebook! It’ll give you questions straight from the source. You should also try out the digital SAT course on Khan Academy, it’s a good supplement, and it’ll give you a plan to study for the SAT. Good luck!

I recommend starting ASAP to study. I would look into some of the test prep books, but I know that those don't help everyone. Once you have learned some material, I recommend that you use the blurt method. For the blurt method, you take a couple of hours away from the material and then go back and write down everything you can remember. The things you can't remember mean you need to practice them more. I also recommend what I believe is called the Pomodoro method. Basically, you set a timer for 20-30 minutes and then you take a 5-minute break. After doing that 5 times, take a longer break. Don't go onto social media during any of these breaks because you may want to doom-scroll! My last recommendation is to keep a water bottle and a light snack next to you, because otherwise you will get tired and sit at a desk, not your bed!!!

I'm kind of lazy, so I can only give last minute study tips. If you are pretty competent in most areas, I would ask an AI like ChatGPT for the hardest problems you will encounter on the respective test, and you will realize there are patterns and everything is pretty much doable. For example, I have also noticed there are specifically a lot of questions on pronoun-antecedent agreement on both the SAT and ACT. I have used this strategy exclusively the night before and it has worked. Good luck
