for context, i am going to major in finance and minor in music performance
personally, I am gonna study for the international finance olympiad and DECA and try to get to the international stage in both
also, I am going to get my CFA IF certificate and my BMC certificate
as for piano, I'm doing some international competitions and the first round is coming up at the end of this month
also kinda late, I'm just studying for the SAT this summer and I'm gonna take it at the beginning of senior year
feel free to tell what ur doing this summer too
I feel like I am not doing much this summer, but I am someone who has to keep busy.
I will probably be doing a summer class like I do every year to take up some time as well as some independent language studying. I want to study linguistics and data science so this will be beneficial for me.
For the past two summers, I did a little writing project where I attempted to write a book, so I will probably continue that as well.
I am studying for the SAT as well and taking it in June while also studying for the ACT to take it in July.
I don't really have any profound things over the summer like competitions, but I'll probably prep for BPA next year.
Overall, I am not doing anything too big this year as I mainly want to focus on getting the application process done.
I believe what you are doing is amazing, and your international competitions will definitely stand out! It's important to pursue what you are passionate about, and it seems you are doing just that!
welcome back to the forum! looks like we got our community back :)
I am planning on majoring in psychology with a minor in environmental studies on the law track. This summer, I will be picking up an internship at a local environmental advocacy group. I currently have a part time job so I will be working and completing my commonapp! :) i have many other extracurriculars as well that relate to law, environmental, and psych i do during the school year. i also will have my college tours this summer as well.
(PS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT FOR GETTING OUR PAGE BACK!)
good stuff. did you watch suits?
anyways why are you visiting colleges? i see so many people visit them but I honestly think its a waste of resources and time. i believe that you should only visit the colleges you got accepted to, and then decide. however, I could see that visiting colleges before the actual admissions process can give insight on which colleges you like the most, but it would require at least like 10+ visits?
and yes, I'm so happy this community has been reinstated. you really made this happen honestly
no, lol, i don't rly watch suits. altho, I should consider doing it at this point bc i do wanna be a lawyer and I love arguing. I may add that to my summer bucklist... (which, I am glad i used my persuasive skills to help us get this page back! - but I had support from you and a few others I couldn't have done without you :) )
I'm visiting colleges bc I wanna get a feel of what each school is like before I apply. :) See if i like the campus culture, climate, etc. I understand not everyone can go in person so virtual tours and sessions are a great alternative to get to know about the school a bit more before applying.
visiting before you apply is a good idea imo bc I don't want to go thru all that time filling out an application for a school i end up not liking in the first place once i visit. depending on the number of schools you're applying to and your budget/commitment, it could take as few as 2-3 college tours to as many as ten. it just depends on what works best for you.
I'm taking the ACT this summer and studying for the SAT because I'm also taking it at the beginning of senior year. I have no idea what else I need to add to strengthen my application, I was thinking of more volunteer hours and I'm taking some community college classes.
academics arent everything. extracurriculars is a big part of your application. by just having good grades, good test scores, and a lot of volunteering hours it just looks like a checklist. most colleges want to read your application and be able to tell what you are passionate about or things you like to do and have done at a very high level
I'm doing finance so I catered my application to fit it, alongside my passion for piano
Yeah throughout the years of catered mine to fit what I’m interested in, but this summer I just don’t know what to do. I’ve already done internships and have been doing a blog for six years about Neuroscience which is what I’m planning to major in.
