Extracurriculars

I'm honestly very confused about what to do for extracurriculars. I go to an extremely competitive highschool, top 3 in my state. Kids in my school have insane ECs, like solving cancer over the weekend or something like that. I, on the other hand, am kinda lazy. I do work when required but don't like branching out to other spaces. Not because I'm scared, but I'm extremely lazy. I'm entering junior year and am looking to add good extracurriculars, but one of the main issues is that I'm taking 5 APs and might not have enough time to squeeze everything in, let alone extracurriculars. I would try to ask a specific question, but I don't really have one. So I guess the best question I could ask is: What are some good extracurriculars for someone who started a little late, lazy, & is short on time?

Totally get it. I used to feel the same way. Everyone at my school had these incredibly demanding extracurricular activities, and I was trying to survive my APs without overextending myself. What helped me was focusing on a few low-effort but meaningful activities, such as joining a chill club, doing virtual volunteering from home, or turning things I already enjoyed (like creating study guides or helping friends) into something I could list. You don’t need a ton, just a couple of things you can actually stick with. Quality > quantity, always.

I would suggest maybe trying to do a passion project. I don't know what you are trying to major in, but it is always nice if you can start a small company/organization or build your own app. Hope this helps!

Does your school offer student government? In my school student government isn't to much of a time commitment. But I'm not sure how your school would be.

Clubs at school! any club! docent matter if they do anything outside of school. most clubs are simply for building resumes, and if you can join a few junior year and be promoted to a board position for senior year it will look great on a college app!!!
