I'm entering my Senior year of High School, and as I reflect on my extracurricular activities, there's a whole lot of arts... I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but I'm sure colleges want diversity, especially since I'm not going into an art based major. I've mostly participated in musical arts-related things such as Choir, theatre, and Tri-M. I've held leadership positions in these roles, but still feel like I need more. Aside from that, I have 1 year of sports and 2 years of student government. Outside of school, I've volunteered over 100 hours at a camp. What do you guys think I should add this year to make my application a bit more solid?
You have a lot of great extracurriculars, and even though you arent going into an art based major, it doesnt mean that your participation in the arts are completely devalued! Focus on how your participation in these activities has strengthened you as a person and developed your character. What have you learned about yourself/the world around you through your arts ec's. While you keep that in the back of your mind, focus on maintaining good academics and broadening your horizons ec-wise and maybe doing some stuff related to your major and demonstrating your interest in pursuing a career through that major.
Seeing as you're not going into an art-related major, I'd suggest focusing on clubs, activities, or volunteering that reflect the major you want to pursue. Schools like well-angled students more than diverse ones.
