Hey guys,
I am a rising senior who wants to major in public health at UPENN. I have a 3.83 GPA, 35 ACT score, a 4.4 weighted GPA, and strong extracurriculars. I have been figure skating for over a decade and received awards, national titles, and currently represented the US. Right now, I am writing my essays, so I need major assistance with them. What are some tips for writing effective college essays that move the college admissions officers?
Hey,
I myself am just a junior, so I don't know too much, but I just had a friend who made it out of the process (rising college freshman). She would often tell her younger sister (rising senior) that when it comes to the college essays the point of the story should be to explain a problem/thing that happened to you and through that try to get the admission officers to see what that shows about you. Obviously, this thing can't be some random fact like "hey look guys I'm double jointed" or something, but it should highlight an attractive quality about yourself. Again, I know very little about these things but based on the few things I know about you, but I would try to connect a struggle within figure skating that you persevered through and how and then how that might connect through a common struggle in the public health field. It may show how you may be a good candidate.
Also check out @slaymann21 on TikTok I have like several of her videos saved because she has a bunch of suggestions and tips on college essay writing.
Hope some of that helped!
