Hey guys! I'm about to enter my junior year and I've tried developing a better transcript since I started my freshmen year doing absolutely nothing.
Here's what I have so far:
Freshmen yr: 3.4 GPA (No AP's, just H bio + H english)
Sophomore yr: 3.86 GPA uw, 4.2 GPA w, took 2 APs (Physics 1 & Seminar) and 1 honor (wrld hist)
For my junior yr, I'm taking:
AP Psychology
AP physics 2 (might switch to H chem)
AP lang
AP Precalc
H US History
Spanish 3 + a dual enrollment sociology course
I'm also taking the SAT in March and am working towards my AP Capstone diploma
For ecs, I've taken drawing classes & picked it up as a hobby at home, but I don't feel good enough to take AP drawing plus it wouldn't fit into my schedule. I have probably around 20+ volunteer hours, was only part of a few clubs, and tried out for my soccer team but got declined. I took a weekly dance class afterschool during sophomore year and I plan to continue that. This summer, I've been kinda sick so I've only done some research and gathered ideas for passion projects while earning a digital certificate from NASA's Open Science online course. I'm currently a member of my school's Link Crew and mentoring service programs and I look forward to joining my school's MUN team.
Overall I feel this is not enough and there's no authenticity/passion-drive. There's no specific career I have in mind but I plan to apply to UC Berkeley, UCLA, and top tier universities, which is why I'm a bit concerned. I'm not too athletic but I can excel in math and a few other subjects. Topics like physics, math, astronomy, politics, etc interest me a lot.
I know I'm a bit limited with ecs and timing but if anyone has advice on internships, passion projects, or even critiques it would be most helpful and appreciated, thanks! :))
Hello! Your transcript looks great so far! I would recommend really honing in on what you would like to do in the future and then structuring more extracurriculars around that. For example, start a club, volunteer work, internships, etc. The most achievable one (in my opinion) would probably be to make your own club based on either physics, math, astronomy, or politics since those seem to interest you the most :) As far as internships go, I suggest making an account on apps such as LinkedIn to help you network and connect with potential employers. Hope this helps, you're doing great!
Hey queen! Your transcript looks AMAZING!!! make sure you pass all your Aps because they're going to weigh more in your Gpa so make sure you stay on top of them. This is definitely enough but this don't speak on what you want to do in the future. Make sure your extra curricular are matching up to the major you want to study later on but be on a look out for internships especially summer and try cooper man scholars
Hey i'm also a rising junior and this is the same way i felt some months ago; i mean...my grades were good but my ecs were all over the place. But i watched some yt vids (i highly recommend u watch Rishab Jain, Elise Pham and Pratik Vangal) and one thing i took away was that i need to know what my spike or real passion is and that is what admission officers would see thru my application. I'm really passionate about aerospace engineering and stem in general so i started doing research and i have some plans to start an aerospace club at my school and participate in some competitions like science bowl/stem racing and NASA space apps challenge. I also love chess and music so these are things i'm planning on doing. To me these are activities that i knew i'd love to do. If anything, it's better to go deep in 3 activities than to be shallow in 10.
