Good day! I'm a rising junior who will be migrating this August. I’m originally from the Philippines.
Profile:
9th Grade (Science High School, Philippines): 97 average (4.0 GPA)
10th Grade (Science High School, Philippines): 98 average (4.0 GPA)
Cumulative GPA (Unweighted): 4.0
This coming school year, I’ll be transferring to a public high school in Montana. While it’s not a highly competitive school, I plan to take AP classes and dual enrollment courses during my junior year. I'm aiming to apply to good universities and would really appreciate any honest feedback or advice on how to strengthen my application.
My TOP Majors:
Physical Therapy
Occupational Therapy
Robotics
Kinesiology
Biomedical Engineering
Questions I’m currently thinking about:
1. How can I stand out as an applicant if I’m coming from a smaller, less competitive school?
2. How should I start preparing for college applications as early as junior year?
3. What extracurriculars or community activities would best align with my interests and strengthen my college application?
Thank you so much for your time! I truly appreciate your help.
Great stats! It seems like you like the sciences. You could try out science bowls and science fairs, or even robotics clubs and competitions. Ultimately, your passions should drive your extracurriculars and activities. If u wanna really be an engineer, your activities should and probably will show that stem/creative mindset. Also, college apps usually start the fall of your senior year so you can start preparing by practicing supplemental essay writing, networking with students and teachers at your desired schools and taking the sat or act(if u haven't taken them yet). And lastly, please don't engage in community service just because u wanna level up your profile, especially if it isn't something that interests you. When you choose to give back to your community, it has to be really genuine. That way your efficiently spending more time and making more impact.
To keep this community safe and supportive:
Thank you! This is well-appreciated. :)
