IMPORTANT HELP - UPCOMING JUNIOR

Hi Guys

I am going to be a high school junior in 2 weeks. I want to pursue computer science major in college where I should get a scholarship as I am not rich.

I need help with this scheduling decision.

I am taking APES and AP art history(to boost gpa, my gpa is bad it’s obviously above national average) and my school also provides AP microeconomics but the thing is both AP Art history and AP micro is provided alternate years and I kinda need both classes as one for gpa boost and other has so much Computer science relevance. But to be able to fit AP microeconomics I either need to drop AP art history or drop Spanish 3. Do u think dropping a 3rd year of language will affect me in college because many people say it does and many days it doesn’t. I am struggling to make a decision due to this because I don’t want to regret taking only 2 years of foreign language(Spanish). Pls help

Do u think I should drop AP art history or regular Spanish 3? Make sure this decision doesn’t affect my chances in college.

i think drop APAH! AP micro still has a GPA boost and then you can pad the spanish stats as it represents more commitment from you toward a possible passion.

I really wanted to drop APAH but my counselor didn’t allow that since I got the elective I requested and AP micro was full. But I am planning to take AP Macro in senior year do you think that will fix ?

This is a tough one. Are you planning to go to a four year college right after high school? If so, Spanish 3 would be the way to go as colleges prefer students to have 3-4 years of a foreign language (the minimum is 2, but shoot for the stars). If you plan on going to a JC or something before college, I recommend AP art history.

In the end, it all depends on how you want your transcripts to look. If your GPA is above average already, I think you'll be fine with just AP microeconomics and Spanish 3. (Also Senior year, you can shoot for the state seal of biliteracy if you take Spanish 4.)

Goodluck!

Hi I am currently in Spanish 3 because my other older friends in college also told me it’s important as I am planning to go to a 4 year college. Unfortunately I wasn’t allowed to change from APAH to AP micro. I still have Spanish and I am going to take AP macroeconomics in senior year will that compensate this ?

I personally think that with the classes you already have, you're set, including AP mac would just be a cherry on top. It doesn't really matter if you take the class junior or senior year, as long as the class is taken, it will benefit you!
