I have a GPA of approximately 3.92 in my sophomore year, but I have a GPA of 3.0 in my freshmen year, with only one A and C+ in my English. Because of that, My GPA is SIGNIFICANTLY dropped and even if I get 3.9 in my junior year, my GPA is 3.61. I am going to take the SAT, at least getting 1380. I want to go to UW, because I live near Seattle but the collegevine says that I have approximately 35% to make it in. What should I do guys
Okay...let's break this down. Firstly, forget collegevine chance predictions bro...their just a good way to categorize your college list into reach, target and safety schools. Secondly...grades are important, as well as SAT scores, but ECs, essays and letters of rec are also very much considered. Thirdly, what many ppl don't understand is that colleges actually want to see growth or improvement of some sort. This is not to say that you should bomb freshman year on purpose and then aim for perfect grades for the rest of your highschool career, but if you so happen to underperform earlier on, the onus is on you to improve upon that over the next few years.
So...do not worry to much about it...instead, take action and improve.
Thank you for your serious answer. Yes, I am keep improving and started studying SAT (to get 1380) and studying AP CSP through Khan academy and AP CSA on online class.
Cool! Glad to hear your're already taking action. Some students just give up on their goals the second they see a "not so good report card". And 1380 is a solid score...so keep up the good work!
