Okay, so we just got our ACT scores back, and mine was a LOT worse than I expected. These are my stats,
AP Tests:
AP Precalc: 4
APUSH: 4
APHUG: 5
(Taking AP Calc AB, AP Physics 1, AP U.S Gov, and a CCP this year)
GPA UW: 3.88
ECs: Varsity athlete, leadership positions in 2 clubs, service hours, etc.
ACT Score (beginning of junior year): 27 (30 math, 25 English, 26 reading, 28 science)
Should I apply to my reach schools without my ACT score, or would it be possible to improve it by 3+ points by senior year? Or would getting prep classes really help that much?
Definitely submit those AP scores, those are amazing. If the ACT doesn't help with your grade than you can either retake it or you could just go test optional. If you are applying for an IVY league though I would recommend retaking due to how competitive it is. Great job, keep up the great work, have a great day, and I hope this helps! :D
In your situation (given that you're a junior with time to retake), I'd say to retake it after getting a prep book. I did the same thing with the SAT as a junior and it helped me get my score to where I wanted it!
HOWEVER, considering your profile, I don't think a 27 ACT will make your application weaker if you didn't. I'll tell you what I told myself: it's one test day. The sports you practice every day, that high GPA, that course rigor, shows real performance because it's over a longer period. I'd only definitely retake it if you're applying to an ivy--only because they do care about standardized test scores more than other schools.
I don't know what a AP CCP is.. and if you're applying for UW, you already done enough.
