Hello. I am a student at Copenhagen International School taking the IB Curriculum. However, I will likely have to move to the US at the end of this school year so that I can start my senior year there.
Will colleges care that I only completed one year of the IB curriculum or will they just look at the classes I would do in the US?
Also, If I only do one year of the IB, should I take the equivalent AP courses in the US?
Hello! Moving to the US and transitioning into a new school system is a big step, and it sounds like you're handling it thoughtfully. Colleges will look at your entire academic journey, including your year in the IB curriculum. This experience can demonstrate your ability to tackle challenging coursework, which is valuable in the admissions process. Regarding AP courses, it can be advantageous to take them in the US, especially if they relate to your interests or intended major. AP courses can showcase your readiness for college-level study and strengthen your application. Are there specific colleges or majors you're considering that might influence your decision on which courses to take? I can give you some specific advise afterward, if you want.
I am taking SL Geography, TOK, and French B and I am taking HL English, Math AI, ESS, and Biology. I am also planning on majoring in Environmental Science at a really good university (Stanford, Ivy, etc). Is it a bad choice to do these subjects for IB or should I have saved them for AP level where i will actually complete the course?
Ivy league students are considering more than 10 AP classes... If you can, take some rigorous courses
I'm planning on doing 4 HLs and 3 SLs for the IB and 6 APs in the US if I have to go back.
