Self studying THREE AP CLASSES

Hi guys, I am Junior near Seattle, immigrated from Canada this year. (I'm Korean) However, I don't have any AP classes yet that I decided to self study AP Calc BC, AP WH, and AP Physics 1. My biggest issue is AP Calc BC. Since I started self -studying AP courses in November, it is very difficult catching up a good pace. (Fixed in Jan 9th, 2026: Now I'm about to finish Unit 3 and jump into Unit 4, tonight with my tutor) even though I have tutor once a week for an hour. (Fixed in Jan 9th, 2026: Now I have twice a week of tutoring for AP Calc BC) A lot of people say that they got 5 on AP Calc BC easily, but I wonder if I can. Any tips? Also, I heard that only ~55% passed on the AP Physics 1 exam.

I took AP Calc BC last year and didn't have much time to study for the AP. The most effective thing for me was watching youtube videos and, if need be, noting down the difficult concepts. I recommend checking out this playlist: youtube.com/watch?v=Q5Qw0f0b-fY&list=PLt4xRk0pCQtByqDfEJfggOrRSFdTIRs0O. This video is also great for a quick review: youtube.com/watch?v=h7FTLNl7FSw&list=PLfCCnEv2UFBHIUPPyHDmgMtEIvE5GMU51. As for limits, I recommend making a quick cheat sheet including limits theorems, function behavior as x reaches certain values, how to graph this, etc. Another really important thing is having a strong understanding of Calc AB concepts. As for practice, I recommend doing the past AP Calc AB (and BC) questions which you can find on the collegeboard website (they also include the rubric and scoring guidelines). Self Studying Calc BC is a huge undertaking but is also very rewarding.

Oh. How did you take BC in sophomore year..! If you've got a 5, then ...wow... With other two APs and school work, I am dying. I feel like. In fact, today I played soccer briefly with my friends, and I ran for 5 minutes and was dying, but I could run for whole hour when playing soccer in just last summer. Also, now I see a lot of white hair due to the stress. I am weakening, bro...

That's so real. Every day it feels like I am on autopilot and chronically sleepy.

Ok, I want to talk about "Sleeping". Everytime on the weekend, I wake up at 8:30 or so, I just don't come downstairs not because I'm lazy (or could be Idk), but because I know that my day schedule is going to be study, homework, assignment. The fact that I only have to study is making me tired even though I just woke up. Brooooooo

Heilmers History is really good! He focuses on AP tests as well as world history. He speaks really fast, but his material helps a LOT. I got a 4/5 on my AP WH test, so I really recommend checking out his videos! Also helps if you aren't much of a bookwork person or just like watching things while doing laundry or something.

I did not, but I do know a few people that do!

So I didn't take Calc BC, but I did take AB. Our schedule worked best within one semester with us going over a sub-unit, practicing, and then testing on it the next day. We still didn't get to cover everything on the exam.

Since your timing is a bit different (you have until the exam in May), I would recommend maybe going to Khan Academy to help with each concept (they go over everything in the course with videos, conceptual review, and practice questions) and setting a personal schedule, trying to get all the units in plus extra review/practice time before the exam. I think if you stay on your schedule and keep making sure your tutor works with you on your mistakes or weak points, you can definitely get a 5.

I tried Khan academy, but it wouldn't work for me. Maybe I'm just a dumb..ㅠㅠ

No, you're not!! It doesn't work for me either lol. In that case, I'd recommend YouTube. There are a lot of YouTubers that explain each chapter, concept, etc in detail, meaning you can sort of pick the one you learn best from. You can also go to Fiveable if you're willing to spend a bit of money; they have study guides that are really in-depth and easy to understand---coming from someone who doesn't naturally understand math!
