so my GPA is being brought down by a class I dropped but still received an F in afterwards. also because i just went through a slump and was so unmotivated. im sitting at a 2.8 right now and have NO idea what to do. its not the worst thing but its also far from where i want to be and i can’t help but feel like im failing at life. i feel so behind everyone my age.
First, think about where you are at right now. Where would you be without the dropped class? Most likely a good student with As and Bs, right? Even if not, think yourself as that kind of student. I am assuming that based on your post that you have one more year left, right? If so, make it count. Try as hard as you can to improve your overall GPA. Ask your friends and family how they are or have been able to maintain good grades. Ask your teachers. Search up methods online to help. I have done this myself, that is how I know it is very effective. Even if it brings it up only to a 3.0, that is good. Also ask about your school policy for dropped classes: you could potentially get that class removed from your transcript; no guarantees though. Whether or not you are able to increase your GPA, use this as a learned lesson. If you want to go to college, they look for unique individuals, and if you can use this experience to your advantage, then they will remember you. That would give you a better chance of getting in.
You were unmotivated to do the class and you went though a slump. You also are feeling like that you are behind. I can try to give advice for these aspects. For your slump, find good coping methods to help with it. Potentially spending time with friends and family, doing art, journaling, doesn't matter. For the behind part, the average GPA in America is 3.0, so you aren't really that far behind. Just a little extra hard work and you'll be in a better place than before. Finally, your lack of motivation to do stuff. What do you do when you are not motivated to do something? Do it anyways. It is hard, but is the best option.
Final thing: You are not failing at life, so don't think that. Go search up some images of cute hamsters and kittens. Have a great day!
Aww honey I'm so sorry! If you need help make sure to reach out to somewhere who you can trust!! I personally recommend baking or business classes! My school's are very inflated and I would talk to your counselor about other options as well!
Hi, Kaylen
You are definitely not failing at life!
As for your GPA, I agree with others. I think that taking some online classes would help you and also drop out of the course if you can. Even easier classes can help you raise your GPA. I actually recommend easier courses so you don't have to work as much to do well. I hope this helps!
Hello! I definitely understand your frustration as I feel GPA are not explained well to us at all when entering high school. This can make it difficult later on in the year. Coming from someone who has a 3.97 uw and 4.4 w, I feel the best thing to do is to evaluate how much motivation you have for this upcoming year. Along with this, think about what things you'll have going on (personal, extracurricular, etc.) in addition to schoolwork. With all of this, now decide what kind of "harder" classes will work for you. If you feel like you will not have a lot of motivation, aim to take at least 2-3 PAP classes if available. If you feel you would like to "lock in" and have lots of motivation, take an additional 1-3 AP classes/Dual credits. AP and Dual will give more of a boost in GPA, but they can also be risky if you may lose motivation and begin to get bad grades. In addition, PAP, while slower in giving a GPA boost, can still give you a small boost while letting you taking easier classes in comparison to AP.
So, make sure to choose wisely! I truly wish you the best of luck going forth in college admissions. With hard work, I know you can do this!

One thing that I did was take online courses because their easy As and they boosted mine back up to a 3.0 so I’d say try to do that
