I would suggest using several scholarship sites to find scholarships. One that I use which helps me find scholarships from different sources is called FastWeb. There's also a really great scholarship that can be up to a full-ride if you live in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Wyoming. It's called the Daniels Fund Scholarship, but I understand that it's fairly exclusive because it is based on residence.

Also, if you are good at writing, you could search for essay writing contest scholarships. A lot of people avoid those because they don't want to write an essay, so you might have a better chance of winning. If you like art, you could try to Doodle for Google Scholarship.

Hi friend!

As a public schooler whose best friend is home schooled and looking for scholarships, I think you should definitely focus on merit-based, home school-specific, and leadership scholarships.

Specific Scholarships for Homeschoolers

Craig Dickinson Memorial Scholarship: For academically excellent homeschooled juniors/seniors.

Mason Lighthouse Scholarship: For students with significant community or church service.

Sandra Hancock Scholarship: Awarded for an autobiography highlighting the benefits of home education.

Sonlight Curriculum Scholarships: Up to $5,000 annually for students who used their curriculum.

Apologia National Scholarship for Christian Service: $2,000 for students using Apologia, focusing on service.

HSLDA Scholarships: Various opportunities through the Home School Legal Defense Association.

General & Merit Scholarships

Bold.org: Offers numerous scholarships specifically for homeschoolers.

Niche $25,000 "No Essay" Scholarship: Open to all high school students.

Michael Martinelli Memorial Scholarship: $250-$750 for juniors/seniors with a 3.25+ GPA.

Tips for Success

Highlight Your Path: Use your unique homeschool background, multi-language skills, and AP/Honors experience in essays to stand out.

Start Early: Many scholarships, such as those from the Home Education Recognition Organization (HERO), open in the winter for the following year.

Leverage Local Options: Check for community, church, or local business scholarships (e.g., in Michigan, Manistee County Community Foundation).

Fill out the FAFSA: Crucial for accessing federal, state, and college-specific aid.
