This summer I wont be here I have to go to Jordan to visit some family members. If I do summer programs or if I volunteer in Jordan do colleges except them or not ??

I think they will because they want to see how you spend your summer, and it is not necessarily a requirement to do something in the U.S. However, if you are talking about this in the context of giving you credit/hours in their institution, you might want to check.

I think it is actually desirable that you volunteer or have a summer program in Jordan because it shows your commitment to your family, your international background and your readiness to always help the community or learn wherever you go. Also, having international background is also about you really having more knowledge about other cultures and people and being able to share that experience and knowledge with your peers once you are in college.
