Hello, on the top of my list is winona, along with U of W Madison, st olaf, and carelton. I am just really worried that Winona isint as good academically. I found out that Winona is really good at helping students make connections through internships and their job placement is really high after graduation. But does this outweigh the mediocre academics? But I feel like I really like the job security and I've emailed some questions & visited and I like the vibe. (I am usually bias towards the college I've visited most recently). By the way I am intrested in a biology related major and hoping to become a PA. I've also emailed with Winona and they have a solid plan to help me through the requierments to PA school. I dont know I'm really conflicted.
Winona State might not be as fancy or well-known as places like UW–Madison, St. Olaf, or Carleton, but it’s actually a solid choice, especially for someone who wants to become a PA. The academics are decent, and while they might not blow you away, Winona makes up for it with strong support, great internship opportunities, and a high job placement rate after graduation. That means you’re more likely to get real-world experience and land a job quickly, which is super important in healthcare. You also mentioned that you like the vibe there, and that matters more than people realize—feeling comfortable and supported can make a big difference in how well you do.
Plus, Winona has a clear plan to help you meet PA school requirements, and they’ve already been responsive to your questions. That’s a good sign. Schools like UW–Madison or Carleton might have tougher classes and bigger names, but they can also be more competitive and less personal. If you’re someone who learns better with guidance and wants to feel like more than just a number, Winona could be a great fit. It’s okay to pick the school that feels right—even if it’s not the most “prestigious.” You’re the one who makes the most of your education, not the name on the diploma.
