I have a 3.71 GPA and I've taken 1 AP, 2 Honors, 2 College classes. I'm a sophomore right now, but by senior year I plan to add AP Stats, AP Comp Sci, AP Gov, AP African American Studies, and AP Music Theory. I want to use math in my major, but music and Marine Biology are always things that I've liked, and I just feel stuck. What do I do?
You should definitely focus on taking AP classes that will help you in your major. For example if you're majoring in physics, taking AP Physics 1 and C can help knock out some introductory classes in college, hence saving you a lot of money.
Not sure what your major is but if it's in math or really any STEM related major, you should definitely take all the AP sciences (chem, bio, physics) and maths (calc, stats).
If you have room in your schedule you should definitely add in classes that you're genuinely interested in like you said music and marine biology. Colleges like to see that your interested in learning and not just being an academic machine.
Don't worry too much, your already taking so many APs which looks amazing to colleges and of course your high GPA. Good luck! :)
My school doesn't have any AP science classes besides Comp Sci, otherwise I definitely would be! :)
I'd suggest going to a school that doesn't require you to apply with a major decided, and ideally one that doesn't make you declare you major until the end of sophomore year (like Colorado College or University of Denver). Also, you've got time!!
Alright, thank you! :)
