School List Suggestions

Hello, what are some good college suggestions for me?

I have 4.00 unweighted GPA, 4.63 weighted GPA, and a 620 math, 750 English PSAT 10 score. I am in my school's auditioned honors choir, literary magazine, and book club. Outside of school, I have a project dedicated to providing access to writing opportunities online for students all over the world for free, and we've had members and applicants from every continent. I also took an activism internship. Other than this, I don't have any awards. I've taken 8 honors courses and 2 APs, and am taking 4 more APs and 2 more honors classes next year. AP courses aren't available to freshmen, and there is a limited number of honors courses for freshmen due to the need to fulfill other requirements.

I am a first generation college student and need financial aid/ scholarships.

I'd prefer urban colleges but can make do with suburban campuses, and would like to go somewhere near or in New Jersey, like in the Mid-Atlantic or New England region.

I want to major in journalism or anything similar in the humanities, so I'd prefer a strong humanities program. I'm also interested in political science.

I’d suggest considering schools like Rutgers University and The College of New Jersey, both of which offer strong humanities programs and are located in New Jersey. Montclair State University could be a good fit too, especially if you want a vibrant campus with access to New York City for internships. If you’re open to exploring a bit further, Temple University in Philadelphia has a solid journalism program. You might also look into George Washington University in D.C. and Syracuse University, known for their communication programs, although they are more competitive. As a first-generation college student, definitely check for financial aid opportunities; many schools offer support specifically for students like you. Visiting campuses when you can might help you find the perfect fit!

(I researched this for you!) Good Luck!
