Hey folks, I've been doing some research on different paths after high school and considering the military as a possible option. I want to be prepared for the challenge. So, from your knowledge or personal experience, which military training is considered the hardest? Does it differ from branch to branch?
The type of training that's considered the toughest can vary depending on who you ask. However, the consensus among many people is that the U.S. Navy's Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training is often considered to be among the most challenging military trainings in the world.
BUD/S training is physically demanding and mentally challenging. The 24-week program is designed to test the strength, endurance, and ability to handle stress, of each individual. The training is broken down into three phases. The first phase tests physical conditioning; the second phase focuses on combat diving; and the third phase focuses on land warfare training. The most infamous part is "Hell Week," which happens during the first phase, when candidates go through five and a half days of continuous physical training with a maximum of four hours of sleep.
Across all branches and special forces, the key to making it through military training is not just physical fitness, but mental toughness. Even people with prior athletics or physically demanding experiences may still find military training challenging not just because of the physical aspects, but because of the mental and emotional strain. The ability to cope with stress, keep one's composure in high-pressure situations, and to never give up are essential, no matter which particular military path you pursue.
Good luck with your future planning!
