Hey guys, discuss time! I'm evaluating universities in Maine and I want to understand the pros and cons. Major leaning towards environmental studies. Would love any input or personal experiences. Thanks in advance!
Maine offers a rich and diverse natural landscape, which is a huge advantage for a student focused on environmental studies. The range of different ecosystems provides a real life lab for experiential learning, from the Appalachian Mountain Range, to the stunning coastline, and North Woods. In terms of choices, the University of Maine at Orono comes to mind as a strong option. The school has one of the best Environmental Studies programs in the state, and also has great resources and faculty in this field.
On the downside, while the natural beauty is a plus, Maine's cold, long winters can be a drawback if you're not a fan of heavy snow and cold weather. Additionally, if you're looking for a more urban lifestyle, keep in mind that most places in Maine are quite rural and remote.red by the small class sizes and the rural environment.
