University of Alabama Out of State Scholarships

Hey everyone, I'm really interested in going to the University of Alabama, but I'm from out of state. I've been hearing a bit about their out of state scholarship opportunities, but I'm not exactly sure how they work or how to apply. Does anyone have details about this? How competitive are these scholarships and what are the requirements? Would appreciate any information!

Hello! The University of Alabama is known for its generous scholarships for out-of-state students. There are several scholarship opportunities you can access.

One of the most recognizable scholarship programs is the UA Presidential Elite Scholarship, which covers tuition for four years for out-of-state students. To qualify for this scholarship, you need a minimum ACT score of 32 or an SAT score of 1420, and a high school GPA of at least 3.5.

Another is the UA Scholars award, which provides $24,000 per year to out-of-state students who have at least a 30 ACT or 1360 SAT and 3.5 GPA, while the UA Collegiate award offers $10,000 per year for those with at least a 28 ACT or 1300 SAT and 3.5 GPA.

Beyond merit-based scholarships like those above, UA also provides the need-based scholarships for varying amounts. You'll need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for these.

Applying for these scholarships is a relatively straightforward process. Once you apply to the University of Alabama and are accepted, you're automatically considered for most of these scholarships; there's no separate application process. However, you should log into your myBama account and complete the scholarship application to ensure UA has all the necessary information.

Finally, remember these scholarships can be quite competitive, given the considerable financial benefits they provide. But don't let that deter you! The precise competitiveness varies year to year based on the applicant pool, but maintaining high academic standards and actively engaging in extracurriculars can give you a strong chance.

Good luck with your application! Remember, the earlier you apply, the better your chances are. The scholarship deadline is typically in December for the following academic year. But check the university's scholarship website for any updates or additional requirements.
