Colleges for a Major in Military History

So, I'm not your typical student. I've always been fascinated by military history, and I'd love to make a major out of it. Anyone have ideas about colleges with great military history programs?

Sure, your interest in military history is unique and it's great to see that you're keen on pursuing it further. There are quite a few schools known for their strong history programs that have a particular focus on military history.

Norwich University, for instance, is a leading school in this field. It offers a major in War and Society which explores the interplay between warfare, civilian society, and the military.

Virginia Military Institute also has a solid program that covers several aspects of military history. Here, the course discusses: military leadership, diplomacy, technology, and the nature of warfare.

The University of North Texas offers a military history track within its history major program. It is one of the few public universities in the U.S. that offers such a specialized degree.

Michigan's Hillsdale College has a strong reputation for its history department as well, with military history forming a core part of their offerings.

Ohio State University also has a impressive program. OSU's Department of History has a significant focus on military history, offering both undergraduate and graduate level studies.

Lastly, Kansas State University has a distinguished military history program within its Institute for Military History & 20th Century Studies, and is another to consider.

Remember, picking a college isn't just about the program. You must also consider the surrounding environment, campus culture, cost, and other factors to ensure it is the right fit for you. Make sure to research each college thoroughly and consider campus visits or virtual tours to find your perfect match. Best of luck with your college search!
