Community colleges that are military friendly?

Hey all, I'm a junior looking at the military and also into community college for my post-high school path. Does anyone know of community colleges that are known for being supportive of military students? This process is slightly daunting so your assistance would be greatly appreciated!

One great place to start your search is through the "Military Friendly Schools" list which is published annually by Viqtory. This list recognizes higher education institutions who are going above and beyond to support and foster a military-friendly environment. Many community colleges across the country have earned this distinction, including institutions in varied geographic locations. Here are a few examples:

1. Cincinnati State Technical and Community College: This college offers the Department of Defense's Tuition Assistance program, which can cover a large portion of your tuition costs.

2. Central Texas College: They have a military-friendly program, offer tuition discounts for military members, and even have some degree programs specially created for military members.

3. Madison Area Technical College: This college excels in supporting Army and Air National Guard members. They offer the National Guard Tuition Grant, which covers 100% of tuition and Segregated University Fee for 128 credits or 8 semesters.

4. Northern Virginia Community College: NOVA, as it's commonly called, offers discounted tuition fees for eligible military students and programs that are tailored for military members transitioning to civilian careers.

5. San Diego Community College District: San Diego has a large military population, and the local community college district is very committed to serving military students. They provide focused support services to military students like counseling, and are happy to award credit for military training.

Remember, there's much more to a school being "military-friendly" than just reduced tuition or flexible class schedules. Look for schools that offer comprehensive support services like counseling, career services, and academic help. In addition, consider whether they offer opportunities to earn credit for military training and experience, have active veteran student organizations, and understand the unique needs and constraints of military students.

This is just a starting point, and there are many more colleges out there with strong support for military students. I encourage you to explore and research schools you’re interested in to see how they cater to the needs of military students.

Good luck on your educational journey, and thank you for your service!
