Options for Online College as an Active Duty Military Member?

Hi all, I'm joining the military soon and I'm super interested in continuing my education. I've heard that some colleges have online programs specifically for folks like us, anyone has any experience with this or any recommendations for good online colleges?

Hello! It's fantastic that you're considering furthering your education while on active duty. The Military has actually a tuition assistance program (called Tuition Assistance or TA) that can cover up to 100% of tuition expenses for some servicemen and women. This program can be a huge help when it comes to tuition fees, so definitely look into it if you haven't already.

When it comes to choosing an online college, there are several reputable institutions that are known for their dedication to providing quality education for military members. For instance, Arizona State University (ASU) has an extensive online program with over 140+ degree options, and they have been recognized for their support of military students.

Another option is Penn State World Campus, which is the online campus of Pennsylvania State University. They offer more than 200 accredited undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificates, and they have a dedicated Military Support Team.

Lastly, schools like the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) and Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) are both known for their military-friendly policies. UMGC, in particular, was designed specifically to cater to the educational needs of active duty military members and veterans.

Make sure you check if these programs accept the Military TA program and always verify their accreditation before making a decision. Your branch's education office can also offer assistance in identifying a good fit program for you. Good luck with your further studies!
