Legitimacy of National Society of Leadership and Success

Hey, can anyone confirm if the National Society of Leadership and Success is a legit thing? Will joining it be worthwhile or is it just a money-making scheme? I want to make sure it's worth the investment and if it can benefit my college application or future career.

The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) is a legitimate organization, but its value largely depends on what you're hoping to get out of the experience. It indeed provides resources, speakers, and trainings focused on leadership development, which can be beneficial for personal growth. However, it's important to keep in mind that admission to NSLS is not highly selective, which can limit its impressiveness on a college application.

To expend on this, in the college admissions process, NSLS tends to be viewed similarly to honor societies that aren't particularly selective or challenging. As such, while being a member won't particularly hurt your application, it won't make you necessarily stand out in a pool of candidates either.

When considering its value, think about how you plan to use NSLS. If you participate actively and even take on a leadership role, it could be a more meaningful extracurricular activity. However, merely being a member and not actively engaging in its opportunities wouldn't be as impactful.

Ultimately, it's often more beneficial to prioritize activities where you can demonstrate personal impact, passion, and leadership. These could be activities such as starting your own club around an issue you care deeply about, leading initiatives in already established clubs, or even gaining work experience in an area of interest.

In summary, while NSLS is a real organization, just being a member probably won't significantly enhance your college application or future career on its own. Active participation and leadership within the organization, or another more unique and personalized activity, would carry greater weight in the eyes of college admissions officers.
