Colleges with Stellar Creative Writing Programs?

I'm pretty much set on studying creative writing, and I've been searching for colleges with strong programs in this area. Can anyone recommend some?

Sure! There are numerous colleges that have fantastic creative writing programs.

1. University of Iowa - The biggest name is probably the University of Iowa, which offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in creative writing. Their Writing Workshop is a storied program where many successful writers have passed through.

2. Emory University - Emory has a renowned creative writing program that allows you to cross-genre and experiment with different styles of narrative. Nobel Laureate Salman Rushdie is a Distinguished Writer in Residence and teaches a spring semester fiction workshop at Emory.

3. Kenyon College - This liberal arts college in Ohio has a sterling reputation for its English department and its emphasis on creative writing. The prestigious Kenyon Review, a literary magazine, is published here.

4. Johns Hopkins University - Known for its STEM programs, Johns Hopkins also has a highly regarded Creative Writing Program that focuses on both craft and the study of literature.

5. Columbia University - Columbia offers an undergraduate creative writing track within the English major, as well as a stand-alone creative writing major. The program is flexible and allows students to focus on their specific writing interests. Columbia’s location in New York City also provides a stimulating and inspiring environment for writers.

6. Brown University - Lastly, Brown has a highly selective and high-quality creative writing program. They also offer a unique 'mixed media' MFA for individuals interested in multiple artistic endeavors.

I recommend visiting these schools' websites and diving a bit deeper into their programs to see which align with your writing interests and goals. It's also wise to consider other aspects of the school (size, location, campus culture, etc.) that are important to you. Reading recent college reviews can also provide some insights.
