Meal Plans at Arizona State?

Kinda stressed about the food situation when I go to college. Any Arizonians here who can tell me what the meal plans are like at Arizona State? Good? Bad? Worth it?

Arizona State University does indeed offer a variety of meal plans. They range from unlimited plans that give you unlimited access to the residential dining halls seven days a week, to meal exchanges which allow you to use meal swipes at certain retail dining spots on campus. The meal exchanges are particularly handy if your schedule means eating on-the-go more often.

Most incoming students with on-campus housing are required to have a meal plan, so if you plan on living in the dorms, you'll have one anyway. Generally, some students find it convenient and appreciate the variety of dining options and the flexibility, while others might argue that it's pricier than cooking for themselves or eating off-campus. Keep in mind though, having a meal plan certainly makes it easy, especially during those busy weeks when you might not have time to cook.

In terms of the quality of food, as it is with most universities, opinions differ. However, noting that ASU is a very large university, they strive for a broad appeal and you'll find a range of options from pizza and burgers to more health-conscious and culturally diverse choices.

It's worth reviewing your dining and eating habits before choosing a meal plan. If you're someone who eats three square meals a day and enjoys a range of options, the cost might be worth it. However, if you tend to eat lighter or skip meals, then perhaps a smaller plan will suit you. Remember, you can always change your meal plan if you find it's not working out for you. So, take a breath, you'll figure out what works best for you!
