SMU's Engineering Program Ranking?

Hey fellow students! I'm looking into the engineering program at SMU but I've found it difficult to dig up updated rankings or reviews for it. Has anyone got any info on this or personal experiences to share? Thanks a bunch!

Hello! It's great to see you're interested in Southern Methodist University (SMU)'s engineering program. While it's indeed challenging, since every ranking has its own methodology, the U.S. News & World Report currently ranks SMU's Lyle School of Engineering's undergraduate program #77 in the country, and the graduate program at #90.

Although rankings give you a general idea of the school's reputation, keep in mind that they don't provide the full picture. It's important to consider factors like faculty quality, research opportunities, curriculum, the school's network within the engineering industry, and alumni outcomes. You should also assess how well SMU's engineering program fits your personal goals and learning style.

As for personal experiences, while I can't share my own, I do know that SMU is known for a low student-faculty ratio, which generally means more personalized attention from professors. Furthermore, SMU emphasizes experiential learning and encourages undergraduate research, both of which can be beneficial in an engineering program. The school's location in Dallas, a major hub of economic growth, could also offer internship and job opportunities.

Hopefully, more students will chime in with their personal experiences to provide a broader view.
