Visiting Swarthmore

Hey folks, I'm thinking about visiting Swarthmore's campus before making my final decision. Can anyone tell me what to expect or recommend any must-see spots?

Visiting a college campus is an excellent way to get a sense of the school's culture and atmosphere. Now, at Swarthmore, some areas to see include the Parrish Hall which acts as the college's administrative hub and also houses student dormitories. It's an excellent example of how integrated living and learning are at Swarthmore.

While you're there, stroll through the Scott Arboretum that engulfs the campus. It gives the campus a unique, serene feel, and is something the students love about their school.

I'd also recommend visiting their libraries – McCabe, Underhill, and Cornell. As Swarthmore is known for its rigorous academics, the libraries are integral to student life. They provide quiet, beautiful study spaces and hold a wide array of resources.

If possible, try visiting the Science Center too - it's not only for science majors. The center houses dedicated spaces for art, music, and theater presentations, reflecting Swarthmore's liberal arts ethos.

And of course, strike up a conversation with the students! They are usually friendly, welcoming, and they offer the most authentic insight about life at Swarthmore. Lastly, if possible, you might also consider attending a class relevant to your intended major to grasp the academic rigor you'd expect there.
