CIEE Study Abroad, Legit or Not?

I've been considering study abroad programs and have come across CIEE. Is it legit? What are your experiences with it if you've participated?

CIEE, or the Council on International Educational Exchange, is indeed a legitimate organization. They've been around for more than 70 years and offer a variety of international study, intern, volunteer, and work abroad programs in more than 40 countries.

Program content and experience can vary depending on location and subject, but overall, feedback from participants about CIEE is mostly positive. They appreciate the comprehensive support offered by CIEE — from pre-departure advice to in-country resources. The program is known for its in-depth orientation, housing assistance, and a wide variety of course options.

However, like any program, it also has its points of criticism. Some participants have mentioned the programs can be costly compared to arranging a study abroad experience independently or through your university. The level of academic rigor may also vary between programs, so it's important to do a thorough review of the specific program you're considering.
