UNC Waitlist concern

Super stressed about this whole process. Can someone shed some light on UNC's waitlist? How often do folks get off the waitlist?

Firstly, I understand your stress and many other students can relate to your situation, so you're not alone in this! Regarding University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's (UNC Chapel Hill's) waitlist, remember that the numbers can fluctuate from year to year based on various factors, including the number of accepted students who choose to enroll and the university's specific needs for a given class.

In many years, however, a good number of students do get offers from the waitlist. For example, in past years, UNC Chapel Hill offered admission to several hundred waitlisted students. However, keep in mind that these numbers are variable and can be influenced by a multitude of factors each year, including the number of spots that open up if accepted students decide to go elsewhere.

While waiting for a decision from the waitlist, it's advisable to pursue all other options, such as confirming your place at your next preferred school. You never know how things will pan out, and having a sure backup in place can provide some peace of mind during this uncertain time.

It's also a good idea to send a Letter of Continued Interest (LOCI) to UNC Chapel Hill. The LOCI can express your enthusiasm for the school and update the admissions team on any relevant developments since you submitted your application, such as new achievements or experiences.

Please remember that being placed on the waitlist is not a reflection of your abilities or value as a student. Colleges like UNC Chapel Hill can only admit a specific number of students each year and often face an abundance of qualified applicants. Good luck, and be proud of what you've achieved so far!
