University of Florida Merit Scholarships

I've been checking out the University of Florida and am curious about their merit scholarships. What do you guys know about the eligibility criteria and how competitive these scholarships are?

The University of Florida offers several merit scholarships for students, and I can share some details about a few. One is the Presidential Gold Scholarship, which provides $20,000 per year. To qualify, your GPA should be in the top 5% of their applicant pool and your SAT or ACT scores should also be in the top 5%.

There's also the Presidential Platinum Scholarship which offers $40,000 per year. To be eligible for this, a student should be in the top 1% of GPAs and test scores in the admitted student pool.

Combining the two, less than 10% of admitted students receive these scholarships, making them fairly competitive.

Finally, the Florida Academic Scholars award, part of the Bright Futures Scholarship Program, is available to Florida residents who have a high school GPA of 3.5 or above, over 100 hours of community service, and an SAT score of 1290 or above or an ACT score of 29 or above.

Do note that these criteria can vary every year, and they generally depend on the applicant pool. The most recent details are always available on the University of Florida's financial aid website. Good luck with your applications!
