Is the NCSA Worth Investing Time and Money Into?

So I've recently heard about NCSA, and how it could help me get some exposure for athletics in college. I'm pretty good at my sport but not sure whether investing into something like this is truly worth it. Anybody had experience with it?

It's essential to scrutinize any organization you're considering investing time and money into. In regards to the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA), it's a commercial service that offers student-athletes assistance with college recruitment. Though some athletes have garnered attention and opportunities through it, your results may vary.

Their services include profile creation, highlight videos, and access to their network of college coaches. But remember, while it sounds exciting, many of the opportunities you can get through NCSA, you could also pursue independently for little to no cost. Creating your own athletic profile and emailing college coaches directly is an important part of the recruiting process. It shows initiative and allows you to control your narrative. Highlight videos can be made with home footage and simple editing software or apps. LinkedIn or the college’s sports website can provide you with the contact information of coaches.

In terms of exposure, excelling in your sport and reaching out directly to coaches who lead programs you're interested in can be just as effective, if not more. You should also consider attending sports camps and showcases where college scouts or representatives are likely to be present.

In conclusion, NCSA could be a beneficial resource, but it's not the only route to athletic recruitment. The value you get out of it will largely depend on your individual needs and how much you put into the process yourself. I'd suggest figuring out what steps you can manage on your own and consider services like NCSA for areas where you might require extra assistance.
