SDSU Engineering Acceptance Rate

Does anyone know the acceptance rate for the Engineering program at SDSU? Engineering is my passion, but I'm just a little worried about my chances getting into this program. Thanks!

While public schools like SDSU don't typically publish acceptance rates for specific programs, I can provide some general advice that might help you gauge your chances. One way to better understand your chances would be to compare your academic profile (GPA, optional SAT or ACT scores) to the profile of an overall admitted student at SDSU.

For the general applicant pool, SDSU's acceptance rate for the 2024-2025 school year was around 27%, with an average high school GPA of about 3.77. While the engineering program may be more or less competitive than this overall average, having a GPA and (optional) test scores equal or higher this average would hopefully put you in a solid position.

On the extracurricular side, having engineering-related activities could also help enhance your application. This could be participation in an extracurricular club like robotics, a job or internship related to engineering, or anything else demonstrating your passion and dedication to the engineering field.

Also consider how you articulate your passion for engineering in your application essays. Providing specific examples and instances where you've pursued engineering will strengthen your application to SDSU.

Remember, SDSU, like all Cal State schools, doesn't evaluate essay submissions, letters of recommendation, or extracurricular activities. They primarily look at your academic achievements (GPA). Therefore, while demonstrating passion for engineering is great for personal development, it won't necessarily boost your chances at SDSU.

Hope this helps, and best of luck with your application to SDSU's engineering program!
