Any suggestions for colleges that accept military credits?

During my service in the military, I've earned some military credits. Now that I'm thinking of going to college, are there institutions that would accept these credits? It would help me a lot to not have to start from scratch.

Absolutely! Many universities recognize the value of military training and experience and have policies in place to award credit for it. Here are a few options:

1. American Public University (APU) and American Military University (AMU): These institutions are both part of the American Public University System, which is known for being military-friendly and accepting military credits.2. University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC): UMGC has a close relationship with the U.S. military and a long history of offering credits for military training.3. Excelsior College: Excelsior is another college recognized for its support of active-duty military and veterans. They pursue a process called 'Credit by Examination' to translate your military training into college credits.

4. Thomas Edison State University: TESU offers a Military Degree Completion Program, which can provide substantial credit for military training.

Remember, transfer of credits varies greatly between institutions, and it's generally based on the specific courses and the equivalency at the university you're transferring to. I would recommend reaching out to the admissions office or the veterans’ service department at these schools to discuss how your specific credits might transfer.

Also, it can be helpful to get your Joint Services Transcript (JST) ready. The JST is an academically accepted document approved by the American Council on Education (ACE) to validate a service member's military occupational experience and training along with the corresponding ACE college credit recommendations.

The key is to find a college that not only accepts your credits but also aligns with your academic goals and career aspirations. All the best with your journey back to school!
