How binding is Tufts early decision process?

I am seriously considering applying to Tufts under their early decision program. How binding is this decision? If I get accepted, am I100% committed to attending or is there any wiggle room? Thanks for any input!

The Early Decision (ED) program at Tufts University, like at many other colleges and universities, is a binding process. This essentially means that if you apply to Tufts as an ED applicant and you are accepted, you are expected to withdraw all other college applications and commit to attending Tufts. The college counts on your commitment, and they will even require a signed contract from you and your parent/guardian acknowledging your understanding of this binding decision.

However, one exception to this is if the financial aid package awarded by Tufts doesn't make it financially feasible for you to attend. If that's the case, you are allowed to be released from the ED agreement. This requires you to have a open conversation with the financial aid office — it's important you demonstrate that the offer given to you wouldn't allow you and your family to cover the cost of attendance. If you're concerned about financial aid, it would be a good idea to use the Tufts net price calculator beforehand to get an estimate of what your aid package might look like.

Remember that applying ED is a big decision because it signals to the college that it's your top choice. So, you should only apply ED if Tufts is definitely your first choice, and you're completely certain that you'd want to attend if accepted.
