Military Friendly Schools in Illinois

Hey all, I'm a junior in high school from Illinois, and part of me is seriously considering the military route after graduating. That said, I want my options open so I was wondering what colleges in my area are known for being military-friendly?

There are several colleges in Illinois that are typically considered military-friendly, offering support and resources to their military-connected student population, which includes veterans, active duty military members, and dependents. One such school is the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. They have a strong veteran support network, including a Veterans Student Support Services office which provides counseling, assistance with benefits, and targeted programming. Also, their ROTC programs (Army, Air Force, and Navy/Marine Corps) are quite strong, if you're considering military service in combination with your college education.

Southern Illinois University Carbondale is another institution known for its commitment to military students. They have an extensive Veterans Services office, a Veterans Center which serves as a space for community-building, and an assortment of military-affiliated student organizations.Illinois State University also offers robust support to its military students. This includes their Veteran and Military Services unit, which advises on benefits and connects students with support services, as well as their Military and Veterans Club student organization.

It's always a good idea to reach out to a school directly to speak with their veteran services or military student services office, as they'll have the most current information on resources, scholarships, and programs available for military-connected students. Do keep in mind that "military-friendly" can mean somewhat different things at different schools, so it's important to find institutions that align with your specific needs and goals.
