Best minors for a pre-med track

Hi everyone, I plan on going pre-med and I've been thinking about minoring in something that would compliment my major. Any suggestions for what minors would look good for medical schools? Trying to plan ahead.

If you're considering a minor that would compliment your pre-med track, Psychology, Sociology, and Humanities subjects like Philosophy and Literature are often touted. These areas of study offer insights into human behavior, ethics, and socio-cultural dynamics that are critical in healthcare.

Psychology or Sociology could provide you with a good grounding in understanding human behavior or societal effects on health. For instance, courses in abnormal psychology or medical sociology can give you an understanding of the health issues individuals may face and their societal implications.

Meanwhile, a minor in a Humanities subject can bolster your critical thinking, empathy, and communication – fundamental skills for a healthcare professional. For example, a minor in Literature could expose you to different perspectives on the human experience, and a minor in Philosophy could offer a basis in ethics, both of which could prove beneficial in dealing with complex ethical scenarios in medicine.

Another approach you could take is minoring in a science-related field different from your major, like Biochemistry, Genetics, or Environmental Science. Such minors could provide you with a broad scientific background, which may be beneficial for the MCAT and in medical school.

Remember, the most important thing is to choose something that genuinely interests you, as your passion and dedication in any field will shine through on your application!
