Curious about UCLA Comp Sci acceptance rate

Hey, I'm a high school junior currently looking into Computer Science programs for college. UCLA is high on my list, but I'm not sure about their acceptance rates in this particular field. Can anyone give me a general idea of what UCLA's Comp Sci acceptance rate looks like?

While it's quite challenging to pin down the exact acceptance rate for specific majors at universities, UCLA's School of Engineering, which houses the Computer Science department, tends to be more competitive than the university overall. For the fall 2024 admissions cycle, which is the most recent data I could find, the entire engineering school had an acceptance rate of slightly under 5.5%.

As for Computer Science specifically, due to its popularity and high demand, you can expect the acceptance rate to be even lower. UCLA does not publicly disclose its acceptance rates by major, but it's probably safe to say that the acceptance rate for Computer Science is lower than that 5.5% figure for the entire school of engineering.

It's important to remember that admissions rates do not capture the full picture of a university's admissions process. High school grades, rigor of curriculum, standardized test scores, extracurricular achievements, and the quality of application essays all factor heavily in admissions decisions, so make sure to focus on these elements as well. At the end of the day, while acceptance rates may give a general notion of competitiveness, the strength of your personal profile and fit for the program is what's most important.
