AP Score Requirements at UCLA

I'm currently taking several AP classes and am wondering how the scores will be considered by UCLA. Do they have specific AP score requirements for admission or merit aid?

UCLA, like many universities, views AP courses favorably in terms of course rigor when evaluating your academic profile. However, UCLA along with other UC schools doesn't utilize AP scores in the admissions decision process. One aspect where AP scores may play a role is for placement and credit once you're admitted. Generally, a score of 3 or above on an AP exam can earn you college credit or allow you to skip introductory courses in that subject.

For merit-based aid, it's more dependent on your overall academic achievement, including your GPA and SAT/ACT scores (though UCLA is test-blind), not your AP scores specifically. UCLA does award some scholarships based on high academic achievement, but they do not specify a minimum AP score requirement for these scholarships.

With that in mind, doing well on your AP exams can indirectly help your case for merit-based scholarships by demonstrating academic prowess, but it isn't a direct factor in the decision.

In conclusion, while AP scores do not carry weight in the admissions process, they can prove beneficial in earning you course credit or placing you into more advanced classes once enrolled at UCLA.
