Is NYU need-blind?

Hey folks, got a quick question here. I'm currently approaching my applications and NYU is one of my top choices. However, finances are pretty tight for my family, so I was wondering if NYU is need-blind in their admissions process?

NYU is unfortunately not a need-blind institution for all students. While NYU is need-blind for U.S. citizens and permanent residents, it's need-aware for international students. This means that NYU may take financial need into consideration when reviewing applications from international applicants.

Before ruling NYU out, however, I highly encourage you to use their online net price calculator to get an estimate of the financial aid package you could expect if admitted. This should give you some idea if it’s financially feasible for you. It's also important to explore as many scholarship and grant opportunities as you can, both within NYU and from external sources.

Additionally, don't let the lack of a need-blind policy discourage you outright. Many need-aware schools still offer significant aid to students with demonstrated need—it just means that financial considerations could potentially factor into admission decisions. Remember to include other financial safety schools in your college list where you feel you would be happy and financially comfortable!
