The Common App School Report - What is it?

I was going through the Common Application, and I stumbled on something called the 'School report'. I'm confused about what it is. Wondering if anyone could explain this to me?

Absolutely, the School Report is a component of the Common Application that is typically filled out by your guidance counselor or another school administrator. This report provides colleges with an overview of your high school such as the course offerings, grading scale, class size, and other contextual factors that may influence the evaluation of a student's performance and involvement.

It's important to note that this is not something you would fill out as the student. Instead, this is part of the counselor recommendation section, where your counselor would provide their perspective and any pertinent data about your school.

Along with this, your counselor usually also submits a transcript and a letter of recommendation which contain more specific information about your academic performance and personal qualities. The school report, transcript, and counselor recommendation combine to give admissions officers a more comprehensive understanding of your high school experience.

Do check with your guidance counselor to ensure they are aware of this requirement and are able to provide this information on time for your applications. It's a good practice to keep an open communication with your counselor throughout this process!
