Waitlist at UC Berkeley

Hey guys! I'm currently a high school junior and working hard on my college applications. I was wondering if any of you could share your experiences or tips about the waitlist process at UC Berkeley? Is it common to get off the waitlist?

Hi there!

Congrats on being ahead of the game and thinking about the waitlist process! The reality is that the UC Berkeley waitlist is unpredictable and numbers change from year to year. It can depend on a variety of factors such as how many individuals they've accepted in the first place, how many of those students decide to attend, and even the overall goals of the admissions office for that year.

It's important while you're on the waitlist to stay optimistic but also have other options in mind. Continue considering other schools, and don't put everything on hold hoping to get off the waitlist. You should accept other offers by May 1st deadline to keep your options open.

While on the waitlist, if UC Berkeley is your top choice, it might be beneficial for you to draft a letter to the admissions office stating your continued interest. Be sure to mention any significant new accomplishments or reasons why you're particularly drawn to the school.

Remember, the waitlist isn't necessarily a reflection on your qualifications. Many students who are waitlisted are absolutely capable and would thrive if given the opportunity to attend. Keep your head up, remain patient, and be prepared for any outcome!
